Very well written and thought provoking. I recently published a similar story on Medium. Mine took a little bit of a different slant on what you've written. I totally agree that in this age of online dating, social media and all the other ways that people meet others and connect that it has become increasingly difficult to find genuine relationships. I do believe that people do often have the attitude that relationships are like buses if you miss one another will come along shortly, and that the disposability of one another is a right in this culture. I also agree that sacrificing for one another has become a dirty word. Being selfish and only thinking of oneself is commonplace. I do though do not believe that staying in a marriage for years, or decades even should be the thing that predicates itself on reaching milestones. Thirty years of mistreatment, sadness, or disingenuous love only equates to longevity, not necessarily happiness.
