That standard already exists. It's called divorce. There are (in most states) no civil requirement to leave your mate other than irreconcilable differences. Essentially, I can't reconcile my desire to not be with this person, with my desire to be with someone else, usually. Settling down is not settling if you know what you want in the first place, and use that knowledge to find someone who is suitable for you.
