Robert, thanks for your reply. I corrected the usage of ancestors because the wording seemed to say that the African ancestors were of a mixed bloodline (with Caucasian blood) before arriving on this continent. Using ancestry would mean the people from whom your bloodline came. For me it would be mostly Africans.

Intermarriage would indeed incorporate other bloodlines into your familial DNA, but intermarriage during slavery, I’m fairly sure was infinitesimal, or nonexistent. I always appreciate the opinions and thinking of others, as I see it as a tool to understanding. By the way you mentioned that English is not your first language, if you are comfortable with divulging, what is your ethnicity?
