Kudos! I agree. While I was touched by the plight of the writer of this open letter, I thought the comparison about kindergarten curriculum, and the teachers who initially mold our wee ones to be crude. I had the opportunity to be a part of a kindergarteners' classes this school year, it was often grueling. They taught a method of counting called subitizing that I had never heard of before. I believe that all teachers are underpaid! They all deserve to compensated better considering what is required of them. I also actually believe that early learning is more crucial than any other point in a persons’ education. If children don't get a zest for learning at this stage, and are not properly taught they may never acquire the skills, or desire to continue to learn. I hope that this professor does get to see the fruits of their labors come to pass, but let's not compare apple to oranges, it just makes the fruit salad non- tasteful.
