Jesus had meals with tax collectors (who were the scourge of society at that time), defended adulterers (he who has not sinned, cast the first stone), and allowed a prostitute to pour oil on his feet (to show how much she believed and trusted in him). This showed his love and mercy for all of humankind.

He did not though Do the things they did, nor condone their behavior! I agree, you do not have to be mean spirited, ugly, or downgrading to people who show openly and obviously that they are without that innate humanity. As the Bible states in Matthew 10:14; paraphrasing," when they don't listen to your words, on going out of that house, or city, shake the dust off your feet and keep moving." Sometimes only God can truly peel the scales from someone's eyes!
