I've heard it said , if you're going through hell, don't stop. Unfortunately for most of us living an unscathed life is something that will never happen. There are a multitude of euphemisms that come to mind on this subject, but the one you've quoted by Mark Twain seems quite apropos. Live life as simply, but joyfully as you can.
