I was born, raised and cut my teeth in a small southern town. I believe as one of the previous commenters said that we are born and placed exactly where we are supposed to be. Our perspectives on life and how to navigate it are started there. Racism certainly is prevalent all through the fabric of America so totally escaping it at any point in history is an impossibility. The unfortunate truth is that it seems as if we are returning to similar times now. The fight to have an equal footing and a decent life of dignity and respect appears to be again dwindling away. I enjoyed your take on this conundrum.
