I discovered Medium while reading articles that were published on 'The Good Men Project' website. From what I understand now they have kind of decided to form "a sort of coalition," with Medium which has, or will make it easier to have your work published on both sites. I don't write for profit, but I take no issue with someone who feels that the time and energy that they exert in putting "pen to paper," or fingers on a keyboard is worth monetary reward. So I wish you well in your endeavor to be successful at "getting the bag."
Concerning the existential crises that we as a nation/world are continually experiencing, it seems to be a no brainer yet almost impossible to put an end to. I appreciate your daughters' angst at seeing her environment gradually imploding all around her. I have had a recent thought about this myself. One of the seemingly innocuous items are plastic bags. You know the ones that have inundated every vendor that you use to buy things from. I have even heard of stores using guilt tripping to get customers to buy and use the reusable bags, supposedly in order to help save the planet from all the plastic waste that accumulates everyday. I say, stop manufacturing plastic bags, therefore there would be no need to beg people to reuse, or recycle them, no need to shame people into "buying" reusable bags which themselves come with their own risks and issues. There is usually a solution to most of the ills that mankind has caused that effect us all negatively, you just have to really have a desire to fix them. This often means following the money, because that's where it all usually starts. Sorry for such a long post, but this is one of my prickly points. Good piece!
