Agreed, I wouldn't call it a rite of passage. It's more of a "cross to bear." We all know the old adage of having to work twice as hard to get the same bennies as our counterparts. Your grand was right about working hard to get what you want, what she didn't realize was that our working hard or harder than them often doesn't get us our just rewards. Great piece!
